Natalie Nong is a high school senior with a passion for making art through digital mediums. As a student, one of her favorite classes has always been English, where she fell in love with storytelling and using creative means to convey personal ideas to an audience. Her illustrations focus on fantasy and adventure-style drawings, where she creates a world and characters that are diverse and inclusive. Growing up in a Vietnamese household in Marin City, California, Natalie experienced a variety of diverse cultures; however, she noticed there was not much diversity on the screen. Her art is committed to telling her own stories and taking control of the narrative to reflect the world that raised her.
As a person who is also passionate about sharing ideas with others, Natalie makes art that gets the viewer to reflect on personal stories. Currently, she is focusing on the concept of light vs. dark. More specifically, she would like to know how people view those two in relationship to what is considered good and evil.
Growing up with a mother who was also artistic, Natalie started with traditional art and developed technical drawing skills, where she then became highly skilled in realism and portraiture. As she grew older and learned about digital art and other skills in her art class, she has since been exploring her art style, emphasizing moods, and feelings with her work. She is ambitious and passionate about the art she creates and is striving to achieve her goal of becoming a concept artist and a freelance illustrator.
